How to convert your generator to gas

And yes, it is possible to convert your petrol generator to run on LPG. Its current carburettor is replaced with a gas-compliant one and hose, and a reducer is fitted. This is then connected to your gas bottle.

You see this new innovation, using Gas to power your generator. It’s working very perfectly and very economical.

A man said, I started using it since last week by fixing it in one of my shops. As of yesterday I have fixed it in four different locations….

How to convert your generator to gas

All it will cost you is buying the carburettor at the rate of (25,000) each and the cylinder maybe 12.5kg at the rate of (28,000) each and pay for the workmanship maybe 4-5k and you are good to go….

I used 4kg of Gas as experiment.

I bought it at the rate of 750 per a KG that’s 750*4 (3000).

The generator was on from 8am in the morning till 9pm in the Night, that’s 13hrs.

The next day I continued with it from 8am in the morning till 3pm in the afternoon and it finished, that’s 7hrs… They switched to Fuel before going to refill the Gas cylinder.

13+7 hrs = 20 hrs…. At the rate of #3000 naira.

Averagely 1kg of Gas lasts like 5hrs.

I repeated this experiment and it’s giving me the same result.

3000 naira fuel which is just less than 6 liters can’t last more than 10hrs. And this one will last like 20hrs with just 3000 naira.

Even if you are using that small generator called “I pass my neighbour”, 1 liter of fuel can’t last 5hrs.

I have done the experiment myself and am a living withness and that’s what am using at the moment if #EEDC no bring light. This one no be say anybody tell me this or that….

The Tri Fuel Carburetor enables you to use three types of fuel to power your Electric Generating Set.

This gives you the option to switch between three types of fuel which are Gasoline popularly known as Petrol in Nigeria, CNP (Compressed Natural Gas) which is available but not very commonly used in Nigeria and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) also known as Propane, or Cooking Gas.

ADVANTAGES OF POWERING YOUR GENERATOR WITH LPG OR CNG

Generators using propane are cleaning and emit less harmful fumes. Standard generators, which run on gasoline produce more odors and can stain or contaminate the surrounding surfaces.

Propane, on the other hand is just gas and will dissipate as the generator runs.

COST EFFECTIVE

Propane is cheaper and more efficient than gasoline.

Gas and generator

You’ll save a lot of money when you use propane to run your generator because it makes it to last longer and reduce the cost of maintenance due to the fact that there is very little carbon emission from gas, the carburetor won’t be stained and the engine oil will not also get easily black.

This makes the generator to experience less wear and tear.

The advantages of using LPG (cooking gas) to run generators are enormous:

Gas is relatively cheaper than petrol, hence the cost is drastically reduced.

During the time of fuel scarcity, gas is available to run your generators hence you are guaranteed constant supply of electricity.

If a generator is likely to be idle for a long period of time probably as backup generator, the chances are that any petrol contained within the system will degrade and block the carburetor with time making it unstable when required.

But an LPG generator can remain idle for years and still start perfectly when required. LPG has no degrade prone product that can block the carburetor or hinder its operation.

IT IS SAFER

Using propane to power your generator minimizes the possibilities of fire hazards since you don’t need to manually refuel and refill the fuel into to generator.

While gasoline generators must be refueled by their owners, on the other hand with propane generators all you need to do is to plug in the gas from the gas can thereby avoiding an possibility of fire accidents.

IT’S MORE DEPENDABLE

Propane can be stored for a long time without evaporating, if you don’t use the generator for a long time, propane will not evaporate unlike gasoline.

Gasoline when stored in a container for a long time it evaporates. When stored in the sun, it can explode. Gasoline stays the way it is for as long as you want provided the can is not leaking.

The only reason why propane can be hazardous is when it is used in an enclosed environment. This is because the air has to be concentrated with propane before it can be ignited.

This is impossible if it is used in an open space because even if there is a leakage the fresh air will dilute it immediately hence it cannot be ignited.
